Simon and the Strumbellas

Song Tree Artist: Simon and the Strumbellas

Simon and the Strumbella's sound is highly influenced by the late great Toronto band Royal City, country rocker Ryan Adams, Vetiver and that warm fuzzy feeling we as listeners get when that thunderous major drops to a minor. Simon and the Strumbella's first single "Underneath a Mountain" is a relaxing, melodic catchy tune that's good for the whole family.

The sounds of Simon and the Strumbella's stumbles under the musical umbrella of Pop/Folkgrass. What's that? Pop/Folkgrass you say? Well, Pop/Folkgrass is a blend of pop, folk, and bluegrass. This style of music is called this because, well, it just doesn't seem to fit into any one category. It's not pop, in that it is not anywhere near the sound of popular music of today, yet it carries the catchy and feel good melodies of classic verse chorus verse pop; it's not folk because, well, I don't even want to begin to put it in a similar category of music as the great Bob Dylan or Joni Mitchell (and what really is Folk, you know?); and its not bluegrass, i.e. there's way too much pop and roll for it to be classic foot stompin', fast playing bluegrass (although there are a lot of C's, G's, and harmony trees). Rather, the sound carries various elements of each style of music to create a unique and fresh sound.
